Apple’s iTunes Store gets 25 billion app downloads

Apple Inc recently disclosed that the Apple App Store has now reached 25 billion app downloads, which is an indication that iOS smartphone and gadget holders are still keen for strapping native apps.

The company has placed the new milestone on its website with a full-size banner that says: “A billion thanks. 25 times over.” Apple had been encouraging for big prize since February 13 and revealed that the champ of the 25th billion app download milestone would be recorded online in about 10 days after the end of the countdown phase and he/she would be awarded with $10,000 iTunes gift card.

According to the App Store countdown report by Apple, iTunes Store’s countdown meter on February 18 had traced around 24,338,612,000 downloads, which represents that it had received more than 660 million downloads from people in just around 14 days.

Apple released its SDK for third-party developers to develop apps for iOS platform on March 6, 2008 and the iOS SDK was downloaded above one million times in just first four days and at that time there were only 800 apps existing when the company started its iTunes Store in July 2008. Today, there are around 578,716 apps available in App Store for all iOS devices.

The Cupertino-based tech giant unveiled in July 2011 that its App Store acquired more than 15 billion downloads milestone. On the other hand, its main competitor Google also revealed last year that its Android Market had gained 10 billion downloads milestone.

Apple iPhone 5 to release in June 2012: Rumors

Rumors like Apple Inc, is planning to release iPhone 5 in June 2012 is rising very high. Some news sources have also suggested that iPhone 5 might release in October instead of June. Along with these rumors, some of researchers believe iOS 6 update, iTunes with iCloud, 4G LTE and enhanced Siri will be the top features of iPhone 5.

The rumor came from the idea that Apple general launches the product in October so iPhone 5 may release in the same month. iPhone 4S was released in October last year. However June release date seems corresponding as Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) will be held in June.

According to the news published on Macotakara, “Foxconn is hiring staff for a June iPhone release, stating that we are looking for 18000 employees for the fifth generation phone.”

Expert has denied the sentence above by saying that releasing new phone and hiring a staff do not always made together.

Lenovo launches IdeaTab S2019 Tablet featuring Android ICS 4.0

Lenovo has announced its forthcoming IdeaTab S2019 tablet via video on its official YouTube channel. However, The Company has not unveiled price tag and launch date of the Tablet so far.

According the news source, “New Lenovo tablet had already passed testing with Federal Communication Commission of USA (FCC) and it is now ready to launch worldwide.”

IdeaTab S2019 is featured with latest Android operation system ICS 4.0 and it will boast 9.7” IPS display screen. It will have 4 SRS-ready speakers for better-quality audio yield. It will have Siri like application for voice activation. The new tablet will have USB port, mini HDMI port and hot-swappable microSD slot. Video posted on YouTube explains longer batter of up to 10 hours, still batter specification and CPU information is not revealed.

Wait till correct launch date to be revealed by Lenovo. Currently ThinkPad, IdeaPad and IdeaPad A1 are three tablet which runs on Android 2.3.x and IdeaTab S2019 is the only tablet that contains Android ICS 4.0.

ThinkPad is designed for Enterprise level user whereas IdeaPads are intended for end-users. It is heard that Lenovo is planning to upgrade all the tablets with Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.

Lumia 610′ Nokia’s first Windows Phone featuring NFC

Nokia Corporation has recently announced all new Lumia 610 with NFC feature. The 610 model is the first to have rising Near-Field Communication (NFC) technology that provides instant payment service to Windows Phone platform. Nokia has promised that they will be adding NFC technology to more smartphones.

Ilari Nurmi, chief at Nokia Smartphone said in a statement that “We are bringing NFC right across our portfolio.”

According to the research firm Berg Insight, “NFC featured smartphones sales are anticipated to more than triple to 100 million devices in upcoming year as smartphone makers and operators announcing new models, expecting to hit in growing market of for Mobile enabled payments.”

NFC enabled smartphones can be used to pay bills for goods, tickets of electronic store, download music, business cards and lots more.

“Orange will be the first telecom operator to sell Nokia Lumia 610 NFC smartphone, which has been qualified for contactless payment with VISA and MasterCard,” said Nokia in a statement.

Some market experts have reported that Orange will be benefiting from the NFC, as it can use the device for its mobile payment service as well.
