South Korea's Samsung Electronics Co. Thursday launched its newest smartphone, Galaxy S3, in India at 43,180 rupees ($768), pricing it higher than the Galaxy S2 phone.

The third version of the Galaxy S series offers face-recognition technology and improved voice-activated controls as well as a more powerful processor that lets users watch video and write emails simultaneously, the company said.

Samsung currently sells Galaxy S2 for 28,000 rupees in India.

The world's biggest technology company has tied up with Vodafone India Ltd. to sell the phones in the country, it said in a statement.
